TO BRAG OR NOT TO BRAG?

The Bible really is an amazing insight into God's desires. This morning i picked up the Bible and a question which has always been on my mind suddenly got answered. The question is 'HOW CAN I STOP BRAGGING AND BEING A SHOWOFF? I have this bad habit of always bragging about stuff, in fact my ability to brag and show off earned me the nickname 'exhibit'in secondary school, it even helped in advancing my career in lying. I've actually been feeling really terrible about this 'little' flaw of mine. So I kept on asking God to teach me how to stop showing off and bragging.

Back to how my question got answered. I stumbled on Jeremiah 9: 23-24 This is what the Lord says:“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.

This verse is self explanatory, just telling us the truth, it is totally not wrong to boast, as long as you are boasting about God. When you think about it, that is what we are here on earth for. Most of the great men in the Bible became great by boasting about their knowledge and understanding of God, was it not by boasting that he knew God and the power God possessed that David could kill Goliath? Was it not by boasting about God that Elijah could deal with those false prophets on Mt.Carmel?

Who are we to boast about ourselves, our material things and our achievements in life, when to be honest God owns it all, there is nothing that beats knowing God and His power, in fact that should be the basis for which people should envy you, because to be honest it just makes them want to know God more. I am not saying we should boast to other people that they are not worthy of God's love or knowing God, we should boast in a way that people would want to know Him.  We are all human and are prone to being boastful. So at that point when you feel the boast coming up, choose wisely, boast about knowing God. I am definitely going to try this, will you?

Worship Is for Our Benefit

Ok, today I do not have a Bible verse, but this post is inspired by the word I heard a few weeks back in church. So the sermon was really about how we should fix our eyes on God, give Him thanks for everything that He does for us, even when things do not go according to our plans. This actually confuses me, because it sounds like we are doing God a favor by thanking Him. So there's this question that has been on my mind 'Is worshiping God not for our benefit? I took the opportunity to reflect on my life and sort of think of different ways through which worshipping God has been therapeutic for me. Anger Management; even though i always forget to do this, I find that worshipping God actually helps quell my anger, so what i do when I'm upset, not all the time, most times, is just plug in my ear buds and just focus on God, singing out loud and sort of dwelling in Him, before I know it, I am totally lost in Him that i forget why I am angry in the moment, this helps me deal wi...

Before you say 'I Do' Part 1

For those of you who don't know me, I am not married and I have never been married, but I am just going to share a few tips which I think would work when you are looking to date someone or planning to get married. 1) Friendship; the importance of friendship in any relationship, engagement or marriage cannot be over emphasized. Movies and books have done their utmost best to teach us that love never fails, love is forever and blah blah blah...But guess what? there are times when the love wont be that strong, You'll long for new adventures and stuff, but what would keep you going is the friendship. When a couple is able to separate their love life from their friendship, it does go  long way, because even if you're not feeling the love the friendship would remain hold till the love replenishes. 2) Love for God: make sure that you and your partner have the fear of God and love God with all your heart. Now i'm not saying loving God as in going to church sleeping in churc...
