The Waiting Room

The word wait has been defined as staying in a place until an event happens, until someone arrives, until it is your turn to do something. I've chosen this particular definition because it speaks to what I would like to share with you today.  If you've had to wait for something - anything at all- you know how annoying, irritating and draining it can get. It may be waiting for something, waiting on a queue, waiting for a rescue, anything. Waiting can be exhilarating, but most times its just no fun at all, waiting too long can never be and has never been fun. I've always had everything I want, I've had to wait a couple of times for a couple of things, but I have never had to wait for anything, I'm that girl that has the next thing planned, knows what comes after each step, I thrive on planning and do so horribly under uncertainties, even when I've had to wait, the wait never exceeds the exhilaration. More recently however, I have found myself waiting for s

Before you say 'I Do' Part 1

For those of you who don't know me, I am not married and I have never been married, but I am just going to share a few tips which I think would work when you are looking to date someone or planning to get married. 1) Friendship; the importance of friendship in any relationship, engagement or marriage cannot be over emphasized. Movies and books have done their utmost best to teach us that love never fails, love is forever and blah blah blah...But guess what? there are times when the love wont be that strong, You'll long for new adventures and stuff, but what would keep you going is the friendship. When a couple is able to separate their love life from their friendship, it does go  long way, because even if you're not feeling the love the friendship would remain hold till the love replenishes. 2) Love for God: make sure that you and your partner have the fear of God and love God with all your heart. Now i'm not saying loving God as in going to church sleeping in churc

Worship Is for Our Benefit

Ok, today I do not have a Bible verse, but this post is inspired by the word I heard a few weeks back in church. So the sermon was really about how we should fix our eyes on God, give Him thanks for everything that He does for us, even when things do not go according to our plans. This actually confuses me, because it sounds like we are doing God a favor by thanking Him. So there's this question that has been on my mind 'Is worshiping God not for our benefit? I took the opportunity to reflect on my life and sort of think of different ways through which worshipping God has been therapeutic for me. Anger Management; even though i always forget to do this, I find that worshipping God actually helps quell my anger, so what i do when I'm upset, not all the time, most times, is just plug in my ear buds and just focus on God, singing out loud and sort of dwelling in Him, before I know it, I am totally lost in Him that i forget why I am angry in the moment, this helps me deal wi

TO BRAG OR NOT TO BRAG?

The Bible really is an amazing insight into God's desires. This morning i picked up the Bible and a question which has always been on my mind suddenly got answered. The question is 'HOW CAN I STOP BRAGGING AND BEING A SHOWOFF? I have this bad habit of always bragging about stuff, in fact my ability to brag and show off earned me the nickname 'exhibit'in secondary school, it even helped in advancing my career in lying. I've actually been feeling really terrible about this 'little' flaw of mine. So I kept on asking God to teach me how to stop showing off and bragging.  Back to how my question got answered. I stumbled on Jeremiah 9: 23-24 This is what the Lord says:“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I

BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING!!!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  I never even knew the full thing, but one day, all I could hear in my head was ‘Be anxious for nothing, but with prayers and supplication, make your request known to God’ This is my own version of the verse and I have been in love with it ever since that day. I must have heard it somewhere, but it came in handy when I needed it.  For those of you who know me, you’ll know worry is my thing, nobody wears it better than me, from what people think about me, to what I think about myself, to the size of my stomach, to how my hair is not growing…..oh I worry So back to what the bible says about worrying, the fact that the bible says we should not worry but make our requests known to God points to one thing, God is ready to attend to us and our
